A 50 year old man is in custody following an early morning attack on a convenience store worker in Saint John.

Armed Suspect on Fairville Boulevard

Police responded to a report of an armed man at a store on Fairville Boulevard around 1 am on Tuesday. Arriving officers found the man actively attacking an employee.

According to a report from CTV News, a bystander stepped in to help the worker before officers arrived.

“Police immediately engaged with the suspect and took him into custody,” the Saint John Police Force stated in a news release. “A bystander had put themselves at risk to assist the employee prior to police arriving.”

Victim Treated and Released

The victim went to the hospital for treatment and medical staff released them shortly after. Authorities scheduled the suspect for a court appearance on Tuesday afternoon.
