Union Celebrates Career Milestones for Two Saint John Firefighters
The Saint John professional firefighters’ union, IAFF Local 771, recently celebrated key career milestones for two of its members. In a social media announcement, the union honored a veteran firefighter on his retirement and congratulated another on his promotion to a full-time role.
A Veteran’s Farewell After 25 Years
Senior Firefighter Anthony Black has retired after a distinguished 25-year career serving the city. Throughout his service, Black was a key member of the city’s Rescue Squad and also served as Captain of the Training Division. The union congratulated him on his dedicated service and recent retirement.

A New Chapter Begins
The union also announced the promotion of Firefighter Matt Clifford to a full-time position. Firefighter Clifford will now enter the next phase of his career stationed at Fire Station 2, where he will serve the community on Saint John’s East Side.

On behalf of President Tyler Embree, IAFF Local 771 extended its congratulations to both members and reaffirmed its pride in serving the residents of Saint John.
