Hours and Ice Conditions
You can enjoy the rink daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. In an official news release, the City notes that maintaining the outdoor ice surface depends heavily on cold weather. City staff will perform daily snow clearing and flooding to keep the ice in the best possible shape. However, if warmer temperatures arrive, the rink may close temporarily to allow the surface to recover.
Rink Rules and Safety
To ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, the City asks that you share the ice courteously and follow all posted rules. The rink is a smoke-free, vape-free, drug-free, and alcohol-free space. Skates are required to be on the ice, and the use of helmets is strongly encouraged for all skaters.
Don’t Have Skates? No Problem.
If you don’t own a pair of skates, you can still join the fun. The Saint John Public Library’s Central Branch offers a free Skate Lending Library. You can find the library on the second floor of Market Square. To check for available sizes and to borrow a pair, you can visit in person or call ahead at 506-643-7236.
