Saint John firefighters stopped a potential disaster this week, quickly containing a fire in a multi-unit building in the Spring Street area before it could spread.
According to a social media post from the Saint John Firefighters IAFF Local 771, Engine 1 and its four-person crew were the first to arrive after the fire was reported yesterday morning.
Swift Response Averts Disaster
Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the back of the building. They immediately entered to search for the source of the fire and to ensure no residents were trapped inside.
The team located a small fire in the kitchen of one apartment and successfully contained it to that area. Thanks to their rapid response, the fire was extinguished before it could cause further damage to the building or adjacent units.

Officials confirmed that there were no injuries to residents or firefighters during the incident. The firefighters’ union noted in their post that incidents like this highlight how “properly staffed fire trucks help save lives and property.”
