Saint John Catches Pickleball Fever with New Courts
The City of Saint John is embracing one of North America’s fastest-growing sports with the opening of three brand-new, dedicated pickleball courts at Shamrock Park. According to a recent announcement from the City, the courts are now ready for players of all skill levels to enjoy.
This investment in public recreation provides a fresh opportunity for residents to get active and try the popular paddle sport, which combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.

How to Access the Courts
You have a couple of options for getting a game in. The courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis for free, casual play. If you prefer to guarantee a spot for your match, you can reserve a time slot online.
Here are the key details for playing:
- Walk-on Play: Courts are open for free play to everyone when they are not otherwise booked.
- Online Bookings: You can reserve a court for a small fee through the City’s online portal at saintjohn.ca/sports-fields-and-courts. You can view the live calendar for each of the three courts here. Note that online bookings have a 7-day hold.
