Drilling Begins in Southwestern New Brunswick

A.I.S. Resources Limited recently wrapped up the first part of its Phase 1 diamond drilling program across southwestern New Brunswick. The company hired Penobsquis based ICor Drilling Services to handle the work. They focused on the Pocologan, Little Lepreau and Prince of Wales areas just outside Saint John. Promising Signs at Pocologan

The drilling team completed eight holes totaling 1340 meters. The most exciting results came from the Pocologan area. Crews drilled a single hole to a depth of 242.5 meters and found structurally deformed gabbro cut by felsic dykes. More importantly, they observed visual disseminated sulphides across multiple intervals. This discovery supports the company exploration models for copper, gold and silver.

Facing Real Challenges Underground

Exploration work always comes with hurdles. At Little Lepreau, the team drilled five holes. They successfully intersected the Talbot Road Granodiorite but had to abandon one hole at 80 meters due to mechanical problems in highly fractured ground.

The Prince of Wales area presented even tougher conditions. Crews drilled two holes but failed to reach their target depths. Mechanical failures in fault zones forced them to abandon both holes before finding any visible mineralization.

What Happens Next

The exploration team is currently logging and sampling the drill core at a facility in Sussex. They sent samples to independent laboratories for analysis and are waiting on the final assay results.

CEO Marc Enright Morin expressed optimism about the findings. “We are extremely encouraged by what we are seeing in the drill core, particularly at Pocologan,” he said. “The combination of structurally deformed intrusive rocks, felsic dykes and disseminated sulphides is providing important geological support for the exploration model that led us to prioritize these targets.”
