Drivers who use Sandy Point Road and Foster Thurston Drive should plan for significant delays starting next week. The City of Saint John has announced a three-day traffic interruption at the intersection to accommodate the construction of a new roundabout.
According to an official traffic advisory posted by the city, the work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, and will last for three consecutive days.

Crews will be on-site for infrastructure installation and upgrades related to the new roundabout. During this period, traffic at the intersection of Sandy Point Road and Foster Thurston Drive will be reduced to a single lane in both directions, 24 hours a day.
The city advises that motorists should expect delays and exercise caution when travelling through the construction zone. Commuters are also asked to be mindful of workers and pedestrians in the area. Directional signage will be in place to guide traffic.
