Family Day arrives on Monday, February 16, and the City of Saint John has released its schedule for municipal services and holiday activities. If you plan to run errands or look for entertainment, here is what you need to know to plan your long weekend.

Municipal Offices and Transit
Most administrative offices and indoor public spaces will close for the holiday. This includes City Hall, the Rothesay Avenue and Adelaide Street offices, and the Saint John City Market.
If you rely on public transportation, you will need to make alternative arrangements. Saint John Transit will not operate on Family Day.
Waste Collection Remains Unchanged
Unlike some holidays that shift the pickup schedule, Family Day does not affect garbage and compost collection. Trucks will follow the regular schedule, so you should place your bins at the curb as usual. For questions regarding recycling, the City advises checking directly with Miller Waste.
Free Skating and Outdoor Activities
The City has organized free skating times for residents looking to stay active. You can head to the Charles Gorman Arena at 80 University Avenue for a free public skate from 2:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Tiny Tot and Senior public skates will continue to operate on their standard schedule. You can verify the most current times at playsj.ca before leaving home.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Rockwood Park remains open for winter exploring, including hiking, snowshoeing, and skating on the lake. However, the Interpretation Centre inside the park will be closed for the day.
