Saint John Transit is preparing to raise the cost of multiple ride passes.
The City of Saint John announced that monthly and 10 Ride Transcards see an average price increase of 1.5 percent starting Jan. 1, 2027. An adult monthly pass costs $84.75, an increase of $1.25.
Why Fares Are Increasing
The transit commission states these fare hikes address rising operational costs. These expenses include fuel, vehicle upkeep, maintenance and insurance. The agency also plans to use the extra revenue to roll out new technology and system upgrades.
What Stays the Same
If you pay with cash, your commute costs remain the same. Single cash fares for local routes hold steady at $3. Comex cash fares stay at $4.50.
