If you are a local artist, the City of Saint John has an exciting opportunity for you. The Saint John Community Arts Board is now accepting submissions for the 2025 Art Bank program and is looking to purchase art from artists living in the city.
This program is a fantastic chance to have your work become part of the city’s permanent collection and be seen by the public for years to come.

What is the Art Bank Program?
The City of Saint John holds a large and important collection of visual art and heritage pieces. You can see these works displayed in public spaces like City Hall, the Saint John Arts Centre, Market Square, and the Saint John Free Public Library.
The Art Bank program aims to grow this collection by purchasing new works from local talent. According to the official announcement, the existing collection already features celebrated Saint John artists like Miller Brittain, Fred Ross, and Herzl Kashetsky. This is your chance to have your name added to that prestigious list.
Who Can Apply?
The call is open to individual artists, both emerging and professional, as well as groups and collaborations. The only major requirement is that you must be a resident of the City of Saint John.
What Kind of Art Are They Looking For?
The board will consider a wide variety of mediums for purchase. This includes:
- Paintings
- Sculptures
- Limited edition prints and photographs
- Drawings
- Fine craft
- Mixed media
While all submissions are welcome, the city has stated that it will give priority to acquiring artworks by artists who are not currently represented in the Art Bank collection.
