Honor a Loved One with a Lasting Tribute in a City Park
The City of Saint John is once again offering residents a meaningful way to commemorate the life and legacy of a loved one through its popular Memorial Bench Program. Applications for the 2026 program open on January 15, providing an opportunity to place a dedicated bench in one of the city’s beautiful parks.

New Locations Available for 2026
This year, the program expands to include more of Saint John’s cherished natural spaces. You can now apply for a bench to be placed at two new locations:
- Dominion Park Beach
- Little River Reservoir
These new sites are in addition to the continued availability of locations throughout Rockwood Park. The expansion offers more choices for creating a special place of rest and reflection.
How to Apply for a Memorial Bench
According to the official announcement from the City of Saint John, a limited number of benches are available each year. The application process is straightforward but time-sensitive.
Applications will be accepted starting January 15, 2026, and will close on February 16, 2026. However, because spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, the application period may close early if all available sites are claimed.
To apply, you must download the application form from the city’s Memorial Bench Program page, complete it, and submit it by email. It is important that you do not send payment until you receive confirmation of approval from Community Services staff.
