The City of Saint John is highlighting its commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) as it celebrates New Brunswick Municipality Week 2025.
This year’s theme, “We Shine Brighter Together,” moves beyond a simple celebration to become a reflection of the city’s core values, aiming to showcase the positive impact of DEI on all municipal services and the community at large.

In a statement released on the city’s website, Chief Administrative Officer Brent McGovern emphasized that DEI is a fundamental aspect of the city’s operations.
“DEI is not just a policy – it’s an everyday practice,” said McGovern. “It’s how we build trust with our community, how we support our teams, and how we ensure that every resident feels seen, heard, and valued.”
The city’s approach is founded on the principle that fostering an inclusive environment for municipal staff directly translates to a stronger, more connected community. By empowering employees to bring their diverse perspectives to their roles, the city believes it can deliver services with greater empathy and innovation.
The week-long event will serve as an opportunity to highlight how these values are being put into action across various city departments.
