The provincial government wants baseball fans to spend their vacation time and money in New Brunswick. To make this happen, the province signed a three year partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays.
This deal costs taxpayers $1,624,000 over the next three years. The Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture announced the agreement to promote the province to audiences in Ontario and across Canada.
The Financial Details and Goals
Tourism brings billions of dollars into the local economy and supports tens of thousands of jobs. The government wants to grow those numbers. The province launched a tourism strategy called Fresh Perspective. This plan aims to increase annual tourism revenues to $3.7 billion by 2031.
Tourism Minister Isabelle Thériault says the investment will showcase New Brunswick and establish it as a world class destination.
“The Blue Jays are a shared part of Canadian culture, giving us a meaningful way to connect with future travellers by sharing what makes our province special,” Thériault said.
What New Brunswick Gets
You will see the Explore NB brand during the baseball season. The province gains visibility through promotional game day experiences and a national contest. The deal also includes storytelling and media opportunities designed to spark travel interest.
Mark Ditmars is the vice president of partnerships for the Toronto Blue Jays. He says the team looks forward to working with Tourism New Brunswick.
“We are pleased Explore NB has trusted the Toronto Blue Jays to support their five year tourism plan and build awareness with Blue Jays fans across Canada,” Ditmars said.
