The City of Saint John has introduced two specialized outdoor wheelchairs for public use at Rockwood Park. You can now reserve these chairs for free. They give individuals with limited mobility a new way to explore the park trails, gravel paths, and open spaces.
Two Models to Choose From
To accommodate different mobility needs, the city provides two distinct wheelchair models designed specifically for trail use.
- ePush Wheelchair: This electric powered model requires an attendant to operate. It helps users easily navigate hills, uneven terrain, and longer distances without exhausting the attendant.
- eTrike: Built for users with upper body mobility, this model offers both manual and electric propulsion. It allows for a fully independent and customizable ride through the park.
How to Book Your Ride
You can reserve either wheelchair at no cost. The booking season runs through October. If you are a new user, you must complete a brief orientation session before heading out on the trails. You can book your wheelchair online directly through the City of Saint John website.
