New Brunswickers head to the polls today to elect mayors, councillors, and representatives for rural districts and district education councils. Polls are open across the province from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This marks the first local election since the province reformed local governments in 2023.

Accessibility Options
Elections New Brunswick offers several accessibility options. Polling station staff provide curbside voting and bring the ballot directly to your vehicle. Returning offices also have devices to assist voters who cannot read their ballot or use a marker.
When to Expect Results
You will not have to wait long for results. Chief Electoral Officer Kim Poffenroth says the first numbers arrive just 10 minutes after polls close. All results should be available by 10 p.m. on the Elections New Brunswick website.
Acclamations and Byelections
Roughly 33,000 voters do not have a ballot to fill out today. This happens when candidates win by acclamation or when no one runs in a voting area.
“In some areas certain contests aren’t on the ballot because either the candidate was acclaimed or no candidates were running,” Poffenroth said.
For areas with vacancies, a byelection takes place on June 22. This includes Grand Lake Ward 2 and Saint Andrews Ward 3, where candidates passed away during the campaign.
