The City of Saint John recently awarded its 2026 Spring and Summer Arts Grants to seven local organizations. The Saint John Community Arts Board hosted a reception to celebrate the recipients. These groups work year round to give you opportunities to experience local arts and culture in the city.

The Community Arts Funding Program offers financial support in two main categories. Project and Activity Funding supports educational and participatory arts initiatives. Arts Festival Funding backs the preparation and presentation of major arts events and celebrations.

Meet the 2026 Grant Recipients

Here are the seven organizations bringing high impact programming to the city this year.

Atlantic Canada Palestinian Society of Saint John

This group will host the Saint John Palestinian Film Festival. The curated festival presents feature films, documentaries, and shorts exploring Palestinian culture and history. The event promotes cross cultural understanding and highlights both emerging and established filmmakers.

Symphonette by the Sea Sur Mer

Prepare for the 2026 Concert Season with shows on September 13 and November 29. A professional conductor and skilled musicians will perform chamber and popular music. This series offers high quality performances and showcases regional composers.

Portland United Church

Music at Portland returns for a fifth season. You can attend ten weeks of free Tuesday evening concerts throughout June, July, and August. The series features a diverse lineup of local performers and provides an inclusive space for neighbours to gather in the North End.

Connection Dance Works

The Saint John Contemporary Dance Festival runs from July 18 to 24. It brings site specific performances and Main Stage shows to Uptown Saint John. The event includes a cabaret at Haven Music Hall and free workshops through the Community Movement Project.

Industrial Parks Collective Inc.

This organization is launching The Yellow Door Community Gallery. The bright 1,200 square foot harbour view space provides a venue for exhibitions, workshops, and performances. It serves as a hub for creative production and supports local artists in developing new work.

Third Space Gallery

THIRD SHIFT 2026 returns from August 14 to 16. This free nighttime festival places contemporary art installations and performances in unexpected urban spaces throughout Uptown Saint John. The event supports both emerging and established artists.

Saint John Horticultural Association

The Violet Festival and Concert takes over the Saint John Public Gardens. This free family friendly event features live music, floral activities, local food, and artisan vendors. It supports local musicians while creating a welcoming community experience.
