More Ways to Vote
The Government of New Brunswick introduced this option to give you more flexibility. If you are away from your normal voting location, you can visit any returning office to request a ballot for your eligible voting district.
“This voting option offers greater flexibility to voters who might not otherwise be able to cast their vote during the scheduled voting times,” said Kim Poffenroth, municipal electoral officer.
Accessible and Mail In Options
Returning offices feature assistive technology to help everyone vote independently. This includes braille controllers, sip and puff systems and paddles for audio sessions.
Printed ballots are also ready. Returning offices are now processing mail in ballot requests. You can apply for a vote by mail package through the Elections NB online portal or by submitting a downloaded application to your local returning office. You must return all mail in ballots to the issuing office before 8 p.m. on election day.
Competitive Races Drive Turnout
Several mayoral races feature three or more candidates. Paul Harpelle, director of communications and outreach for Elections NB, told CTV News that these contests add excitement to the election.
“Whether you are looking at Tracadie, Miramichi, Fredericton, Moncton, Dieppe. So that in itself can lend to a little bit more of excitement, more signs and more awareness and we just hope that that will sort of trickle down into people showing up and coming out to vote,” Harpelle said.
Elections NB is running social media, movie theatre and radio advertisements to keep you informed about advanced voting and election day dates.
